| The
petition process applies when a Junior Competition driver (ages
14 through 17) requests to advance beyond their designated age class
or division. A petition is documentation of riding history and racing
experience. A resume submitted to manufacturers or sponsors for
consideration under their racing programs is a good example to use
for a petition.
Items to include
in the petition:
· * Name
· * Address
· * Age / Date of Birth
· * Primary telephone number and time you can be reached
· * Fax number / Email address
· * Number of years riding a snowmobile
· * Number of years snowmobile racing / type of snowmobile
racing
· * Circuits and divisions/classes raced
· * Outline of the racer’s record of competition: include
race dates and locations, finish positions, achievements/awards,
etc.
· * Clearly explain why there is a need to advance the racer
beyond their designated age class/division.
· * Parent or legal guardian should include note indicating
support of advancement
· Include letters of recommendation or references (beyond
family members) knowledgeable of the competitor’s experience
and abilities (please include contact information).
· * Race plans (what are your intentions this season, next
year? What are your goals?)
· * Other racing experience (motocross, watercross, etc.)
· * What you do in the off-season to prepare for snocross
racing (weight training, motocross, etc.)
Competitors
without snocross experience or who have not raced in an MWR-sanctioned
event must race in the division/class defined by their age and cannot
advance. Exceptions may apply if the competitor is currently a member
of an ISR affiliated race circuit. MWR will require a letter of
confirmation from the race circuit director or a manufacturer’s
representative.
MWR strongly
encourages racers to compete in the appropriate age division, but
also understands that abilities can vary at young ages. MWR will
consider Junior Competition advancement petitions on a case-by-case
basis. MWR officials have the authority to place racers in the division
or class most appropriate for safety and competitiveness.
